About Me

I am a part-time instructor in Computer Science at our local community college, a wife, and mother of two grown children. I’ve always enjoyed nature and am fond of hiking and gardening. I also like to travel to wild and exotic places.
Now that my children are grown, I would like to pursue my dream of writing and illustrating children’s literature. My particular interest is in creating books that are educational in nature. Education has always been important to me. I possess a love of learning and would like to share that love with children by stimulating their curiosity about the world we live in.

My Art:
As the daughter of an artist, I have had a lifelong interest in art. As a child, I was able to work in pastels instead of crayons. Pastels remain one of my favorite media. Through the years, I have studied painting with my father, Chicago artist John Stribrny, and have had the opportunity to study watercolor with other local artists. Recently, I received an Associate’s degree in Graphic Arts from the college where I teach.

My Books:
“Newton and Me” - I wrote this book with the idea of illustrating Isaac Newton’s three laws of motion in a way that children can relate to. The acts of rolling a ball or riding a bike are activities that a child has already experienced. My hope is that this story will make them think about those activities in a way that will help them understand how friction and force affect motion.

“Herman’s Galapagos Adventure” and “Creatures of the Galapagos” - Having been lucky enough to travel to the Galapagos several years ago, I wanted to share my experiences with others, especially children. I’ve been inspired to write these two books by this unique environment and the animals that live there.
